SeniorNG has stumbled upon some photos from Rivers State University Induction theatre and arts students which have sparked mixed reactions.
The now trending photo is a picture of the recent induction ceremony of Year 1 students into the Theatre and Arts Department from Rivers State University.
In the photos, freshmen of the department of theatre arts wore ritual-like clothings as they did a procession in the university premises.
While some Nigerians hailed the practice which has become an annual thing in many campuses, others raised alarm that it is an initiation rite that is meant to be spiritually harmful to anyone who partakes in it.
All male and female rocked wrappers. While some wore white wrappers, others had something similar that had mixed colours of red and black.
Like costumes used during fetish depiction in Nigerian movies, the students had white chalks on their bodies while some had black on them.

Reacting to the photos, many Nigerians hailed the current President of the Department, Prince Godswill, for organizing such a wonderful event while majority were of the opinion that it was simply an initiation and further called the attention of the school management to as a matter of urgency ban such ceremonies in the school.
