Below is USCFootball.com’s 2022 initial version of the Scholarship Distribution Chart. This chart will keep track of every Trojan football player on scholarship, which position they play and which class they represent. The chart will also give details on total scholarship numbers and how close USC is to the maximum limit of 85 total players on scholarship. This chart will be updated throughout the year as players are added, leave the program, switch positions or when walk-ons are granted scholarships. It will also note where players that enter the NCAA Transfer Portal end up.
Pre Fall Camp Update:
Following USC’s summer workouts the team put out a pre-fall camp roster for Pac-12 Media Day. Two names that were on the roster in the spring were no longer listed as Trojan football team members, freshman punter Atticus Bertrams and sophomore offensive lineman Maximus Gibbs. At media day Riley said there were challenges with international players and they would have more clarity on Bertrams as they get closer to fall camp and that Gibbs was dealing with a personal matter. In late May USC also picked up another scholarship quarterback, San Pablo (Calif.) Contra Costa College quarterback Jake Jensen.
Post Spring Football Update:
The Trojans held a successful spring football session under new head coach Lincoln Riley and it turned out to be a fairly stable period for the overall football roster. Early in spring ball offensive lineman Ty Buchanan entered the portal and subsequently chose Texas Tech and shortly after spring practice ended linebacker Eli’jah Winston also entered the portal.
The NCAA established May 1 as the deadline for players to enter the portal and remain eligible for the 2022 college football season. We anticipated a flurry of names entering the portal from the Trojans roster after the end of spring ball, but Winston was the only player that decided to try and find greener pastures.
Riley talked about his desire to add “double-digit” players to the portal, but without more players departing, we are not seeing the open spots to bring that many guys in. As of May 10 USC added Ohio State safety Bryson Shaw, Arizona State linebacker Eric Gentry and Wyoming defensive end Solomon Byrd.
Spring Football Updates:
The first spring football session under Lincoln Riley has provided some more updates to the roster. While it was never announced, safety Isaiah Pola-Mao is no longer on the roster and is turning pro, taking part in USC’s Pro Day.
