The Excelsior Scholarship application for SUNY and CUNY schools opened Thursday for the 2022-23 academic year, according to Governor Hochul. Students who apply can attend any SUNY or CUNY school with free or reduced tuition. The Scholarship, awarded on a per-year basis, covers up to $5,500 for any remaining gap in tuition expenses after other federal and state grants and scholarships are applied. The 2022-23 tuition rate is $7,070 for SUNY schools and $6,930 for CUNY schools.
