A native doctor has emerged winner in the primaries of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) and will represent the party in the next governorship election in Anambra state, Nigeria.
The native doctor identified as Dr. Nnamdi Nwanwuo was given the ticket after his two co-aspirants, Humphrey Anaso and Chidebere Mba reportedly stepped down for him.
Babatunde Ali, the National Secretary of the party, who made the announcement of Nwanwuo winning the party’s primaries, said the election was credible and without any violence.
He envisaged the party coming out victorious against the incumbent All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the governorship election in Anambra.
Ali, while praising other aspirants for stepping down for Nwanwuo, admitted that it was a rare display of sportsmanship and leadership.
“PRP is the only party that recognises the place of people in governance. This country has hope because what we have done today will be on record as far as PRP is concerned,”he said.
