Real Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos will finally depart the club today, Thursday June 17 after he failed to agree on a new contract with the Spanish giants.
The 35-year-old experienced Spanish defender, has played for the club for 16 years during which he scored an impressive 101 goals in 671 appearances, won four Champions Leagues, five La Liga titles among other club titles
Unfortunately, Ramos and Real Madrid have concluded on his time for the club as he will leave before the expiration of his contract which is to expire at the end of June 2021.
The defender battled for fitness in the just concluded season as he only made just 15 appearances for the club in La Liga. He was also not included in the Spain squad for Euro 2020, which clearly suggested his recent dip in form due to age.
In a statement released by Real Madrid read:
“Real Madrid CF announces that tomorrow, Thursday, June 17, at 12:30 pm, there will be an institutional act of tribute and farewell to our captain Sergio Ramos, with the presence of our president Florentino Pérez.
“Next, Sergio Ramos will appear before the media at a telematic press conference.”
