Police Arrest Priest Who Faked His Own Kidnap To Extort Ransom Money From Church Members In Ekiti (Photos/Video)

As the increasing rate of kidnapping continues to ravage the entire country, an unusual twist was recently made public as a priest was arrested over faking his own kidnap in order to extort ransom money from his members in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state.

According to the Ekiti Commissioner of police, Asuquo Amba, the suspect, Adegoke Adewuyi, a priest in an unnamed orthodox church lodged in a hotel for three days and his accomplice went on to notify his church members, that the priest has been kidnapped, then proceeded to demand for a ransom of three million Naira.

Luck eventually ran out on them after they were tracked down by the police and arrested, while the members were still scrabbling to raise his ransom amount.

The suspect, however, regretted his actions as claimed that it was a spiritual attack.
