At least Two young men have been arrested, Monday Imafidon and Ifeanyi Okafor, after they allegedly stole the loot dropped by armed robber gang who robbed a POS outlet of ₦5.2 million Naira.
According to reports, the robbery operation happened at Uromi, Esan north-east local government area of Edo state, where the hoodlums stormed the POS outlet on a motorcycle and robbed everybody who were around the premises without excluding the operator.
Immediately they zoomed off, a detachment of police operatives and some residents who were around, gave the robbers a hot chase, following which they threw the money away.
Although, the robbers were arrested by the police, then Imafidon and Okafor, as well as other people, took advantage of the chaos to rush and steal the money. One of the suspects confessed to stealing some part of the money and not all.
“I saw people running after some men on a motorcycle and suddenly we saw plenty money. I joined other boys to collect the money. The total money we got was N2.5 million, all of us shared it, and I got N600,000”.
The state’s PPRO, SP Kontongs Bello, who confirmed the incident, said that some cash had been recovered from the suspects.
