A Nigerian man has expressed disappointment over how he was mistreated by the VIO officers, who gave him a ticket of ₦60k for renewing his vehicle registration even after he had earlier renewed the pappers.

According to a report by the Twitter user identified as @Temitope_Yemi, he said that after renewing his vehicle registration papers in Abuja recently, he was stopped by VIO officers and was told to bring out his vehicle registration ticket for proper verification, though according to him, the vehicle was purchased and registered in Lagos but due to he relocated to Abuja, he had to renew the papers in Abuja.

After verification, he was handed over a new vehicle registration ticket worth ₦60k, and was told that his ticket was not valid that he must renew the particulars with sixty thousand naira.

if this country doesn’t kill u, it I’ll frustrate you.
So I have a Toyota Corolla which was registered in lagos. The car was moved to Abuja in 2019. In 2020 the vehicle paper expired and I renewed the paper in VIO HDQ Abuja @lagosvio @FRSCNigeria

Today around Abule Egba, I was stopped by VIO and was told that they want to verify my vehicle particulars which I gently complied. Before I knew it, I was handed a #60,000 ticket that my vehicle particulars ain’t valid. I was dumfounded

I explained to them that the vehicle has a Lagos plate number but the paper was renewed last year in Abuja. One of the senior officer asked me to proceed to their head office in ojogu Berger. On getting there, I met series of officers and I was made to understand that

One cannot renew a Lagos vehicle license outside Lagos. That the renewal I did in Abuja last year cannot be accepted hence I will have to pay the #60k. So my sin is that I genuinely renewed a vehicle paper in Abuja.
