One prison inmate, who are among the prisoners who escaped from the Imo state correctional center has been burnt to death by angry mob of Umuawom village, Iho-dimeze community in Ikeduru council area of the state.
It was reported that on Monday, April 5, 2021 armed hoodlums viciously attacked the correctional facility, freed over 1,800 inmates in the facility and burnt down vehicles around the centre.
One of the escaped prisoners, who was in jail for kidnapping and hailed from Ogwa community in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State but was brought up in Umuawom village, which is where his mother came from, was said to have returned to Umuawom to one of the families that who came out to testify against him in court and promised to deal ruthlessly with them. He reportedly brought a gun with him.
The villagers responded by descending on him and after beating him mercilessly, they set him ablaze.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no statement from the state police command.

Police Confirms Death Of An Abuja Based Pastor, Who Died Inside His Church
The Nigerian Police Force, Abuja Command have confirmed the death of a popular Abuja based pastor, who was found dead inside his church.
The Pastor identified as Emeka Evans Unaegbu, was said to have been conducting a lone vigil before he probably slumped and was found lying on the floor and could barely breath when neighbors found him.
According to the Sun Newspapers, the neighbors had rushed him to the hospital where he was confirmed dead. The Police while reacting to the news, stated that they are not suspecting any foul play though they claimed that investigation is currently ongoing.
