If Manchester City Fail To Win The Champions League, I Will Be Branded A Failure — Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola has revealed that he understood the pressure on him to succeed in Europe with his team, Manchester City. He said that for him not to succeed will be seen as a failure on his part as the coach of Manchester City.

Man City have not gotten to the Champions League final despite Pep Guardiola being their coach, even though Man City have been on top of Premier League.

After investing huge resources on City, in the past decade, starting from player recruitment, stadium development and academy upgrades, serious pressure is on the current coach, Pep Guardiola, to deliver well in European football competition.

Looking to reach the Champions League semi-finals, Manchester City now face Borussia Dortmund in their quarter-final second leg on Wednesday, carrying a 2 -1 lead from the first leg at home.

He added;

“This is a business, and business is business. Business is winning,” said Guardiola at his press conference on Tuesday April 13.

“If we don’t win, I will be a failure. If we win, it will be: `Oh, how good is Pep.”’

Guardiola also added that it is the players who deserve credit in successful seasons and not him.

“We won the Champions League, I didn’t play,” Guardiola said in reference to his time at Barcelona.

“I didn’t win the Champions League with Barcelona – they won it. I was just there to have one idea all together.

“If I retire in five or 10 years, what has happened in my career was completely unexpected when I started. I’m more than grateful for the clubs I was at and the players that I’ve had.”
