Popular Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, yesterday February 23, 2021 debunked the notion among Nigerians that armed Fulani herdsmen are bandits but rather classified them as militants fighting for ethnic survival.
The Sheikh while speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, admitted that after having conversations with the armed herders that it is an ethnic war which should be handled with dialogue and them the herdsmen the ways of Allah.
When he quizzed if the armed bandits are Nigerians, the former captain in the Nigeria Defence Academy, NDA, quoted: “They are Nigerians. I hate to call them bandits. They are militants fighting for ethnic survival. They want to defend themselves. If there is peace, you will not see such things as banditry, kidnapping among others.
He also claimed that Fulani herdsmen do not kill, stating that they only steal, kidnap and demand ransom.
Police Nab Woman For Trying To Sell Her 4-month-old Baby For N40k In Ebonyi
A 32-year-old lady alleged to be a prostitute has been apprehended by the police in Ebonyi state for allegedly trying to sell her little baby for a paltry sum of N40,000.
The woman identified as Victoria Chukwube, was arrested by the police, while she was negotiating to sell her four-month-hold baby boy to raise money to start selling drinks
Loveth Odah, the Ebonyi state police spokesperson, said the suspect was arrested following a tip off.
“So her name is Chukwube Victoria, she told us she is a commercial sex hawker and that she has this baby which she carrying.
“She said if she leaves here she would continue to look out for prospective buyers.
“But we tried to talk to her and to make her see the value of being a mother, but she refused.
“She even told us that if we allow her to go home with the baby she will throw the baby away and that she can’t tell who got her pregnant.”
When she was being interrogated, Chukwube declined to reveal her state of origin or local government but insisted that she wanted to sell the baby because she lacks the financial capacity to take care of him.
“I am from Nigeria, 32 years old, a commercial sex hawker and my baby is just four months old.
“I want to sell the baby at the rate of N40,000 to start up a business. I have a fridge and I reside at Ogbe Hausa in Abakaliki.”
