As most Nigerians are calling for the ban on open grazing nationwide, due to the damages on farmland and the incessant killing of citizens by alleged Fulani herdsmen, a twitter user has narrated how his farm was razed down by a Fulani herdsman because he failed to comply with his order.
The Twitter user identified as Adeshina Oke, recounted how a Fulani herdsman allegedly set his crops ablaze after his cow died from poisoned substances, he applied to his crops to prevent cows from further destroying the crops in his farmland.
While other herdsmen prevented their cows from grazing in his farmland, a particular one, allowed his cows feed on his farmland and one of the cows died.
The herdsman called Oke on phone to inform him of the incident and told him that he must pay for the dead cow, but Oke refused to comply.
In response, the herdsman set his farm on fire, which led to a huge loss of investment on the farm and also revealed that he’s still in debt because of it, even after three years.
Posting via Twitter, Oke shared photos of his farmland and wrote;
My encounter with the Fulani didn’t end well.About 3 years ago, I planted plantain after I harvested my cassava and maize. On that faithful day I was in Lagos when someone that is helping me monitor the farm called that #Fulani are grazing on my farm land that belongs to my forefathers in Oyo state. He advised that we spray a chemical that will discourage them From destroying my investment. So I left Lagos the next morning to Oyo to apply the chemical. Every herdsmen would not allow their cow to enter the farm once they smell the chemical but this particular Fulani herdsman still went ahead to graze on my farm land and destroyed my investment. After a day or two, one of their cows died. Few days after the cow died, I received a call that I should come to oyo that a cow died and I will have to pay for it. I said why did you invade my farm land and destroyed my investment worth millions. I refused to show up because I don’t trust what they might do to me. A week after what I heard was that my farm land was set ablaze. am yet to recover from the debt and lost of investment. #Fulani
