We Want SARS – Northern Governors Tell FG

The northern states in Nigeria have opposed the total dissolution of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad(FSARS), admitting that its relevance in the fight against banditry and insurgency in the region.

Simon Lalong, the governor of Plateau state and the Northern Governors Forum’s chairman, made this statement, while answering questions from correspondents after their meeting at the Aso Rock, Abuja with President Buhari on Thursday.

Lalong said, although President Buhari has already endorsed the dissolution of FSARS, the northern governors, do not want it to be disbanded totally.

He continued that, FSARS was not just bad officers  as people saw them but it also consisted of officers who were sincere and worked diligently.

According to him, there was no need to disband  FSARS, but to reform it so as to achieve optimal functions

He, however, admitted that there are different views and opinions by various zones in the country, concerning the unit to continue existing.

Lalong, also said he was in the Villa to praise Buhari for approving community policing of which training has started in the nation’s different zones.

The ENDSARS has been a trending topic in Nigeria, which has spread all over the world as young Nigerians took to the streets, to protest for the unit to be disbanded, due to various cases of brutality and injustice on Nigerians by the unit and also for the entire police force to be reformed.

#BlackFriday As Fire Engulfs Onitsha Plastic Market. Destroys Properties Worth Millions Of Naira (Photos)

It’s currently a Black Friday for the people of Onitsha and most especially the traders of Onitsha Plastic Market as fire engulfs more that 40% of the market.

According to BBC News Igbo, they reported that the fire outbreak was said to have started early today morning around 1:50am Nigerian time and it is believed that properties worth millions of Naira was also destroyed.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and the State Police Command has informed the general public that investigations into the matter is currently ongoing.
