Nigerian musician, Naira Marley has cancelled the planned protest against SARS killings, exploitation and brutality on unarmed Nigerians.
The singer had earlier scheduled the protest to take place, today, 6th October 2020 by 9am, but the protest has been called off, after he said that the police confirmed to him that they are making a lot of changes to the unit in terms of reform.
The police in response to his earlier tweet about the protest, wrote;
@officialnairam1 The Inspector General of Police wishes to inform Nigerian youths that their voices and complaints on the issues of unprofessional conducts by some SARS operatives have been heared very loudly and clearly.
And in response to their tweet, he cancelled the protest and gave the authorities a week for the changes to be implemented, else the protest will take place as earlier planned.
We won’t be protesting anymore because there’s a lot of changes being made right now. As a Marlian we will give them a week to see the changes and if there’s no changes we will start a mass protest. #togetherwecan

We sincerely hope the authorities involved will do the needful to stop the injustice perpetrated by bad egg in the unit.
