A Nigerian man with the name, Josephat Michael, is seeking for advice, on how to deal with his current situation concerning his family.

According to Mr Michael, he claimed that his wife and her younger sisters, chased him out of the house, he single-handedly built just because he could no longer take care of family responsibilities, and she said she couldn’t be in the same roof with a broke and jobless man.

Fortunately, few months after, he was called back to work. On hearing the good news, the wife called her husband begging for forgiveness for how she and her sisters mistreated him.

Read his story below:

My name is Josephat Michael, after i lost my Offshore job, my wife and her younger sisters chased me out of my house, that i built myself, some years ago.
It all started when last year June 2019, i returned home with a letter from the management of the company i worked for, on the letter, it clearly stated i was among the 15 employees to be dropped due to the situation in the country.

Moreover, my wife already had a big boutique shop and i was the one who opened it for her and have been supporting her financially, so we could have another source of income in our family.
So after i lost my job, i had to follow her to the shop everyday in other to assist her. Even before that, her two younger sisters was staying with us and they always follow her to the shop assisting her in making sales and all that.
It happened that, few months after, i noticed some kind of uncouth behavior from my wife, which she has never showed ever since we got married.

Whenever i talked about going to the market with her, she would be warning me not to come closer to her shop, saying I’m a bad luck and i should stay at home and take care of the children, she said that whenever i stepped my foot on her shop, there won’t be much sales that day.

As a man of peace, i decided to stay at home for peace to reign, yet, when they get back home, there will be no peace in my house, her younger sisters don’t respect me anymore, they talk to me anyway they like, not minding that i was the same man who sponsored their education from secondary to university level.

When all these were happening, i was looking for a job from one company to another company, praying for God to answer my prayers ..
With the little money i had, i bought a fairly used Keke Na Pepe (Tricycle) just to make ends meet.
Sometimes when there’s no much work and there will be no food to eat, i used to beg from my tenants because my wife usually lock the kitchen…
I was weak and disappointed, there’s no peace in my house, no safe place for me outside too.

Feeling pained and angry because of their attitude towards me, i woke up one night and told my wife that her sisters are no longer going to live with us and she’s following them too since they don’t want me to have peace in my own house.

My wife looked at me and laughed, saying neither she nor her sisters are going anywhere.
She said the house belongs to them and no body even me her husband will chase them away from the apartment..To my greatest surprise, my wife said if anybody should leave this house, that person must be me, her husband and her word is final..

I wanted to fight back, but i thought about our children, so i parked my belongings, the little ones i could carry, then left and hired a one room apartment.
After some months, one afternoon, i was on the road conveying passengers to their destination, i had a call from my company, saying that i should prepare myself ready that I’m resuming work the next day and a flight has been booked for me already.
Out of joy, i was forced not to collect money from the passengers i was carrying because i was happy. Finally the Lord has answered my prayers.

Few months later, my wife on hearing the good news, quickly contacted me begging for forgiveness for what she and her sisters did to me.

If you’re in this man’s shoe, how will you handle it?What’s your advice to him?

He noted that it is better for a woman to find a way to resolve any problem or challenge that comes up between couples than to file for a divorce which is a sin before God.

Martins further advised married women who are having challenges in their marriages to look for any possible means and resolved the issue, instead of looking for a way to divorce and leave the marriage.
