A Nigerian man on Twitter has jumped on the hashtags #EndSarsNow and #EndSARSBrutality to recount his own experience, among many others,  in the hands of SARS.

SARS, an acronym for Special Anti-Robbery Squad, is a unit in the Nigerian Police Force, designated to deal with robbers and kidnappers, but have been allegedly involved, heavily in harassment, extortion and some times; killing of unarmed innocent citizens, mainly young men, accusing them of being internet fraudsters.

The Twitter user  identified by his username, John Snow, who writes codes and contents, narrated how SARS officials, scaled through his compound fence, pulled him from his room, took him and locked him up, accusing him of being an internet fraudster that’s why he was looking fresh.

He said ever since he got out from their cell, i became scared to dress properly these days.

Taking to his Twitter account, he wrote;

SARS jumped the fence and dragged me from my room. They locked me up for the whole day and nothing on me. they see the fresh face and they jumped to conclusion that I am a yahoo boy and telling me to drop money. Started regretting being fresh.

Sometimes, due to SARS, I couldn’t dress properly going out. I got scared every time I see a car stopping near me on the street. Some of my friends call it SARSPHOBIA disease. 

All I know is we don’t need Sars. It’s enough.
