A South African man on twitter with the handle @violineeeeee has told employees to stop looking down on security guards.
Syn Voiline, as his twitter username appears, urged employees to treat security guards with regard because they are employees too and the same time, their colleagues.
In his opinion, most companies and offices you visit, security guards run errands for other employees and they are hardly regarded in the scheme of things, forgetting that they are employees to, just like the rest people working for the firm.
He pleaded with them to abolish the act of sending them on errands like to buy lunch, saying that these men and women who are security guards are not their children but their colleagues employed just the way the other were employed.
He concluded by admitting that most of the security guards are people’s parents and as such should be respected because they are elders
Taking to twitter, Syn Voiline wrote;
Guys please stop sending the security guards at your work places to buy you lunch and run your errands.
These are your colleagues, not your children. Respect our parents please.

The post generated reactions from various people. Some felt guilty for such act while some said the security guards also get rewarded sometimes so it is a fair exchange. Below are some replies

My mom was a cleaner at social development and those social workers used to send her to buy them
lunch, even worse others were way younger than her. I couldn’t wait to start working so that she can stop working there
A cleaner at my work begged me to let him wash my car so he can have some extra cash, I felt bad about it but i eventually gave in. Now he washes my car every Friday and I pay him
It’s fine if he begged you not that you dictate him to clean it or send him to the shops it’s not right people mustn’t abuse their powers
You allow how you want people to treat you, if someone does something you don’t want to you tell them so they know how you feel but if you do what they ask you to do that means you also want to. Respect starts with you. #FromragstofreedomofLife
It is another way of making extra cash, your “please stop’ shows that those people are more wise than you, in their jobs they are not depending on just 9-5 salary.

Did you know that should they be caught by their sub or your boss(person paying for security at your workplace) they will be fired for post dessert and neglect of duties?
But they do offer to run errands at times, then ask for lunch or transport money in return.
Personally I don’t do this but those that are doing are usually good friends and it benefits both parties. If your colleague is going to the mall they know people who usually need something and they inform them lol then in return it could be extra lunch or few bucks for them too
Our security guard will always force himself to do stuff for you. I am way younger than him but he will always insist to buy it because he wants to keep change. He will never stop asking
And what about the guard’s post..next thing hell be getting flagged
Mina its either i pay him or buy him lunch I don’t just send him, i have a respect for him.
They are those kids who grew up thinking that they breath flavored air.
