Reno Omokri , Nigerian author and former spokesperson to ex-Nigerian president,Goodluck Jonathan, has lambasted Nigerians over the sum of over $15,000 raised for disqualified BBNaija lockdown housemate, Erica.
The 26-year-old Nigerian lady, Ngozi Nlewedim popularly known as Erica, is an actress-cum-model from London, England and was a housemate in Big Brother Naija 2020 edition. She was recently disqualified after she broke the house rules for the third time.
Just after she was disqualified, a car dealer in the US promised to gift her a Mercedes Benz car and the sum of N2million. Also a Gofundme account was created by her fans and has received a massive donation of over 15,000USD from Nigerians.
Omokri, who can’t believe Nigerians could be able to accomplish such donation in 5 hours for the ex-housemate but have constantly refused to put up resistance against his perceived oppressive rule of President Buhari over the recent increase in electricity and fuel cost 5 days after the increments were announced.
Reno, categorically, mentioned those Nigerians who are always fond of saying “come and lead the protest” anytime there is a need to protest some decisions against the masses.
He stated that Nigerians respond swiftly to unimportant things and events, but look for others who will stand up for them when it is a relevant issue and concluded that, indeed, Nigerians deserve president Muhammadu Buhari.
Taking to his twitter account he wrote;
In 5 hours, Nigerians raised $15,000 for #BBNaija’s Erica. In 5 days, the same Nigerians have not been able to raise any resistance to General Buhari’s increase of fuel and electricity costs. If you talk, some Nigerians will say come and lead the protest. Who led them to raise a record breaking $15,000 in 5 hours? We can act spontaneously for irrelevancies, but we are looking for others to act for us on relevant things! Nigeria deserves General Buhari
And hours later he wrote again;
Nigerians will be more willing to publicly protest if the person who organised the fundraiser for #BBNaija’s Erica runs with the $15,000 they raised in 5 hours, than if fuel price and electricity costs were further increased by General @MBuhari. The sad reality!
See screenshots of both tweets below respectively;
As usual, Nigerians reacted to both posts and below are some of the reactions and replies
Serious Sad Reality. We are busy Discussing trivial issues and Spending Precious with things that willA amount to Nothing, rather than Concentrating Our Energy on How to Better This Country, No wonder We were called “LAZY NIGERIAN YOUTHS “
What really amazed me is that many people complain of no protest but they didn’t volunteer to lead the protest. The worst culprit of this complain are the PDP members,why can’t they protest?are the afraid of their shadow
I don’t know what wrong with our Nigeria youths, they can fight over a celebrity that has already made it in life that doesn’t even know if they exist. Now their foolishness has level up again by donating money for a #BBNaija disqualified housemates like, I don’t get them.
Oga tomorrow if I see you driving a benz I can it foolishness, I mean why not buy keke and give the balance to the less privileged.. Don’t they serve same purpose? The thing is that the money belongs to them and your opinion about how they spend their money is foolishness.
Imagine youths contributing money for her because she got kicked out of a program for indiscipline why won’t they follow leaders that are looting when most of them see nothing wrong with it. And the worse part many of this youths are jobless contributing for another person
I have come to a conlusion that we(Nigerians) don’t need help. If we can waste time and resources on stupid things like BB9ja then what we need preciously is divine deliverance
Sir, kindly separate those two comparison you only gonna upset people rather than encouraging them you can only tell people right thing to do not criticize or detect what they do with their resources. Help them make right choices and don’t condemn the
choice they made.
